Things In My Bible 2
When someone says something in a sermon (or other event where I have my Bible with me) that seems to be profound, I write it down in the pages of my Bible. This particular thing that I jotted down was stated in a sermon by someone I don't particularly like. Nonetheless, it was a profound statement.
The statement:
"Love is a space where all emotions can be expressed and felt."
Something became real to me with that statement. We all desire to be loved for who we are in spite of the areas of us that aren't so pleasant. I believe that is a desire that we have acquired by being created in the image of God. I believe that God, like us, desires to be loved because of who he is, not for what he can do for or to us.
God created us to have free will so that we freely decide whether or not we love him. Of course, if we choose not to love Him, we will be condemned to eternal damnation. That truth aside, He desires we love Him just because... and that is it. He doesn't want us to love Him so he will not punish us for all eternity.
Anyway... I survived.
